Captain Peake
This memorial is dedicated to Capt. William Peake of the Brig* Peacock, who lost is life in an unequal struggle with the American ship of war Hornet on 24th February 1813.
See Charles Waterton's First Wandering.
(* Brig, a two-masted sailing vessel, square-rigged on both masts.)
